What should be confirmed before an appliance is listed for physical collection?

Confirm the appliance decision, connection readiness, acceptance requirements and carry route as separate parts of the collection request.

Identify the appliance and who controls it

List the item, its location and the authorised owner's instruction. Disclose whether it is rented, leased or subject to a return arrangement. A replacement purchase does not itself authorise disposal of the old equipment. Keep the equipment-return decision separate from arranging a crew to carry it out.

Describe visible connections without working on them

Tell the assessor about water, gas, fixed electrical connections or attachment to cabinets where known. Arrange readiness through the responsible provider or trade. Do not use this guide as instructions to disconnect, drain or dismantle an appliance. Physical collection and trade disconnection are separate scopes.

Ask about preparation and acceptance

Confirm with the provider what must be completed before the specific item is accepted, including any specialist material or refrigerant process that applies. Do not assume unplugging resolves every requirement. The linked prohibited-material guide identifies why some equipment needs a different route, and the collector must confirm the actual arrangement.

Review the carry route after readiness is established

Describe door openings, stairs, turns and retained surfaces. Note whether the appliance is still fitted into joinery or accessible as a loose item. The crew assesses movement rather than relying on the owner's assumption that an item will fit. A useful request says which appliance is released, which preparation has been confirmed and what remains unresolved, without declaring it ready based only on a photograph.
