Anchor Demolition Scarborough · Reviewed
An accessibility refit can change a customer route, service counter or room boundary. The removal contractor needs the project's design instructions, not an instruction to make the premises accessible without a defined layout.
Trace the intended route
Start at the entrance and follow the route to reception, service areas and the rooms included in the design. Identify fixed counters, partitions, doors and finishes that conflict with that route. The responsible designer determines dimensions, door arrangements and compliance for the property.
Anchor does not certify accessibility or install automatic doors. Its commercial demolition service assesses the ordinary interior elements that the project identifies for removal.
Separate local changes from room alterations
| Change in the design | Removal contribution to identify |
|---|---|
| Reception counter revised | Fixed joinery and surrounding finish boundaries |
| Room entrance changed | Reviewed partition/door opening and affected surfaces |
| Washroom enlarged | Both existing room inventories and the agreed shared boundary |
| Floor transition changed | Specified covering or concrete work, separately assessed |
The washroom enlargement guide develops the adjoining-room decision. Use that detail without assuming a new washroom layout or fixture count from this general guide.
Follow removals into the next installation
A removed counter can expose fixing points in a retained floor. A changed doorway can leave wall and ceiling edges needing reinstatement. Ask the receiving trades to describe those interfaces before the demolition scope is agreed.
In an illustrative reception refit, the design replaces a fixed desk and changes an adjacent partition opening. Anchor's assessment covers those named removals; the project team supplies the new counter, door and finished route. Removing an obstruction alone does not establish that the completed premises meets its requirements.

Contact Anchor with the reviewed route plan, retained features and designer or GC contact. Identify whether the premises will be vacant or proposed to remain partly in use for assessment. The retained-surface record helps define edges, while occupancy arrangements and the final accessible outcome remain with the responsible project team.
